Friends,
Hope your Easter weekend went well! I know my girls enjoyed their candy hunt with Samantha. We bought too much candy so I’m about three chocolate bunnies shy of not fitting into my pants this week =)
Data for things to do:
1) http://www.thefa.com/my-football/justplay/. This is a site to sign up for local pick-up football games. At least one of our staff members uses it to play every so often. He highly recommends it!
2) Tomorrow is cinema night at Costas on base. If you haven’t seen “Django: Unchained” it’s well worth the watch. Good redemption story if you’re into those types of films. Doors open at 7pm, film starts at 7:30. I’m reluctant to go myself but if I can get 10 “likes” for this post, I’ll show up! Perhaps we can enjoy it together?
3) Looking for something to do this weekend? Saturday at 9:00am, I’ll be grabbing the Metropolitan line train to Baker Street, and then Bakerloo onto Charing Cross. Why? This is the last weekend to see “The Sunflowers” by Vincent van Gogh at the National Gallery. After that, I’ll be going to head back over to Trafalgar Square. I haven’t had a chance to visit but from what I gather, it’s a tribute to Lord Nelson, Britain’s greatest military hero. The entire square represents the heart of an empire that controlled three fifths of the world in its day. Also, we’ll be taking in the Hahn/Cock. It’s a 4.7m high sculpture of a cockerel in ultramarine blue and is the latest sculpture to roost on the Fourth Plinth in the north-west corner of Trafalgar Square. 45-minutes by tube, about an hour and a half of checking out the sites, 45-minutes back home, and you will be able to relax and enjoy the remainder of your Saturday knowing you got out and saw something neat. Or you can work on that honey-do list mowing the garden or repairing that cabinet you’ve been blowing off. Your choice =)
4) Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican holiday we all love and enjoy, is just around the corner. Anyone have a good recipe that you’d like to share? I’d love to try something different this year to go along with my Dos Equis and lemon. I’ll have to regrow my beard out though. I normally look like this around this time of the year:
